Ahascragh/Fohenagh bidding for All-Ireland glory

Galway intermediate hurling champions Ahascragh/Fohenagh will bid to become the first team from Galway to win the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Final this Saturday when they take on Carrickshock (Kilkenny) in Croke Park (4.45pm).

It has been a busy few weeks for the Ballyhaunis hurlers and it is about to get busier again. On Sunday, they face into their fourth game in 14 days, having draw the Mayo Senior Hurling Championship final with Tooreen last Sunday week, before they eventually got the better of them in another Titanic encounter in Ballyhaunis last Sunday by just three points. They followed that up on Wednesday evening with a 1-12 to 0-9 win over Roscommon champions Oran in the semifinal of the Connacht Intermediate Championship in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence and now on this coming Sunday, they face Galway champions Ahascragh-Fohenagh in the final of that competition at 2pm in Athleague.

Young hurlers from Galway will have a chance to show off their skills on Saturday when Centra hosts a community hurling event in Kenny Park with hurling stars Cathal Mannion and Jason Flynn.

The Galway players worked exceptionally hard all over the field last Sunday to harvest a terrific and inspiring victory. There was a real steeliness to the entire performance which was fantastic to see.

U-21 hurlers face Limerick in All-Ireland semi-final 

The Galway u-21 hurling panel, including senior stars from last Sunday's wonderful win over Tipperary, Jason Flynn, Cathal Mannion and Conor Whelan, will head to Semple Stadium this Saturday for the All-Ireland semi-final against Munster champions Limerick (6pm).
